Trending....

The other day while I was organizing my closet in an effort to squeeze in a few more pairs of shoes, I noticed a couple of trends. The first one is that I like stripes.  Striped dresses, striped tank tops and striped t-shirts. I like black and white striped tees so much I own two that are identical.  (Thank you Target!)

Another trend I noticed is my penchant for wingtip shoes.  Three weeks ago I had none and now I own 3 pair, actually 4, the final pair hasn't arrived yet. Who knew my Daddy and I would have similar taste in footwear? I'm a die hard girly girl who drives a little pink car (Hi Penelope!) but sometimes I like to add a little edge to my look.

What can I say,? When I go in, I go all in. I also find something I like and I buy it in multiples, sometimes unintentionally. My late Aunt Lessie was the same way. Aunt Lessie was #goals for me. She was the epitome of fashion; shoes, clothes, accessories, you name it, she had it. At the time I was an awkward teenager with chin acne and no sense of myself. I was just beginning to love fashion, and when I'd see my Aunt drive up in her 2 door sports car dressed to the nines no matter what the occasion  I soaked up every bit of it. It  also didn't hurt that even though she was tiny, she had a mouth on her that could bring a sailor to his knees.  A shy girl like me admired that kind of sass. Sadly, Lupus took my Aunt away from us way too soon. I often wonder what other lessons she might have taught me if she was still here.....

Fast forward to today. My chin acne is gone and I'm all grown up with my own sense of style, yet my tendency towards buying multiples makes me feel connected to her.

My budding wingtip collection also ties in my obsession for shiny shoes.  I've recently been falling in love with flat shoes, but not just any flat shoes. For me, flat shoes need a little extra oomph to make a statement the way high heels do.  Right now these beauties are doing just that, take a look.

As you can see, all of my new friends are related, yet wonderful on their own merit.  The picture on the right was my first family, but the Burgundy beauties on the right joined shortly thereafter.  Welcome to the family lovelies.  I promise to wear you with sass and pride, just like my Aunt Lessie would.

It's funny how the task of reorganizing my closet not only revealed my trending habits,  but also sent me fondly down memory lane.  I think my Aunt Lessie would be pleased.
