The Lazy Girl's Guide to Wine: Wine Down Wednesday
Hey there fellow lazy girls, I know it’s been a long time. Okay, it’s been a very long time and I sincerely apologize. Your girl has been on quite a personal journey over these many months. Along the way, there were doubts, laughs, tears, epiphanies, lots of food deliveries and many, many, many glasses of wine.
My particular journey wasn’t a fun one, as a matter of fact, there were days when the only thing I looked forward to was a glass (or bottle) of wine. Fortunately, with hard work and the support of my friends and family, the cycle of dark days are a thing of the past. My inspiration, creativity, and excitement have returned.
So let’s get to it okay?
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. I live for these warmer months. Longer days spent soaking up the sun, taking walks instead of driving and random evening hikes are my jam. Give me a beautiful day, a blanket, a good book, a few snacks and a great bottle of wine and I’m good for the entire day.
Glasses of Chardonnay with my girlfriends are a mainstay, but on lazy days spent solo, I reach for other white wines. I need light fruity citrusy wines that aren’t overpowering because I’m pairing them with finger foods and not full meals. The melatonin punch of grapes is no joke, so I have to be careful. There is nothing cute about getting lit alone and falling asleep inebriated in the park. We’re wine lovers, not substance abusers.
My favorite wines for summer days are usually Riesling, Syrah, Prosecco and of course Rose’. I know Rose’ isn’t white, but it’s just so pretty it had to make the list, besides, who can resist the notes of orange, melon, and berry that a good Rose’ can offer?
Wine is like your favorite little black dress, it goes with almost everything. Just like you’d pair that go to garment with stilettos or your favorite beat-up Converse low tops and a jean jacket. You can pair a good wine with a hand-blown crystal wine glass or paper cup.
So go forth and enjoy lazy girls!
Until next Wednesday.
