Girl Meets Grub, A Restaurant Review

One beautiful but cold morning my photographer Quil and I finished a shoot, so we decided to hit up Folk Art Restaurant  located in the Historic Inman Park area.  This place is what Brunch dreams are made of.  The menu boasts dishes ranging from sweet to savory and everything in between. The venue isn't especially large, and since they don't take reservations, there is often a wait, but trust me, it is worth it.

I do not do cold, but I was willing to not only park my car, walk up to the restaurant and wait outside for a chance to eat here. I could not pass up the vintage vibes this cute little spot was putting out.

I had the Foul Play, which is a waffle topped with chicken fingers topped with a Whiskey Peach Compote, all served piping hot. I saw it being brought to my neighbor's table and I had to have it. I usually don't allow anything sweet to play with the meat on my plate, but I took a risk and the payoff was incredible. The waffle was a nice balance of crispy and fluffy, the chicken was fresh and flavorful and those peaches!  They were warm and spicy, but not so much that they interfered with the chicken fingery goodness that topped my waffle.

Quil had the Bad to the Bone sandwich which was featured in Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on the Food Network.  It was made up of house roasted pork shoulder, topped with collard green coleslaw, date chili bourbon bbq, gruyere cheese and caramelized onions in between 2 slices of hot Texas Toast and a side of fries. Basically a lot of words to say one thing - DELICIOUS!

As I mentioned before, Folk Art isn't large, but the space has been used wisely, so even though some tables are quiet close together, you don't feel like you are having dinner with the people sitting next to you.

The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous. I'm adding Folk Art to my restaurant rotation and I will definitely recommend it. Street and valet parking are available. Keep in mind that they aren't a late night spot, they close at 9pm Monday - Thursday & Sun, and at 10m Friday - Saturday. So a little planning may be needed, but you won't regret it.

Until next time.
