Part Three: This Lazy Girl's Guide to Wine, The Series

Happy Monday Wine Lovers!

I've decided to delay talking about Red wine pairings to talk about White wine instead.  Let's just say that I've been inspired by the glorious Atlanta weather we've been having these days. What's not to love? We get the wonderful warmer weather and longer days coupled with slightly cooler temperatures in the evening.  Add a chilled glass of White and you have the makings of a perfect wine down. Why wait until Wednesday?

White wines get their varying yellow hues from the pulp of the grape, since the skins aren't used, Whites can even be made from red or black grapes. There are hundreds of varieties of White wines.  Even my non-wine loving friends are up to try a glass of White.  Moscato anyone?

White wine is that girlfriend who will keep you company at your networking event, save you from that overly friendly dude at the concert and sing at the top of her lungs with you to your favorite song regardless of where you are.

Let's explore the types of White wine shall we? Just like anyone else, I've assigned personalities to my favorites....Okay, it’s probably only me, but I've done it and I'm not sorry so sit back and peek into the World of White Wine according to Me.

(I am not a professional, I'm just a girl who likes wine).

  • Chardonnay - The social butterfly of the group. She's popular and everyone knows her name. Chardonnay ranges in flavor from fruity citrus to rich and buttery.

  • Pinot Grigio - Pinot is the girl in the group with all the answers, but she's so easy to hang out with that you often forget just how smart she is. Pinot Grigio is refreshing, great ice cold and offers hints of acidic fruit like lemon, limes and apples.

  • Champagne - Need I say more? Champagne is the friend who is always pulled together. She's truly winning at life. Champagne is effervescent and celebratory. This fizzy wonder also makes Mimosas possible. Champagne's bubbly nature can sneak up on you, so be careful.

  • Prosecco - The light-hearted little sister to Champagne. She's just as smart as Champagne, she's just a sillier more jovial version. Prosecco is also a good alternative to Champagne which means it can also make Mimosas possible.

  • Moscato - That girl you become instant friends with. She's the one who can easily get along with any of your other friends. Moscato is great with dinner or as dessert.

Well there you go, we've scratched the surface of the World of White Wine.  Stay tuned for next week's post, who knows what we'll discover.
